
Fees
The membership year runs from 1st September to 31st August. Fees are calculated on the cost of room hire for activities between September and May. The full year or part year fee, to be paid upon joining, depends on the frequency of activities.
Gold membership entitles you to enrol in any or ALL of the activities listed below.
Silver membership entitles you to enrol in any one or more of the activities in the Silver, Bronze and Red categories listed below.
Bronze membership entitles you to enrol in any one or more of the activities in the Bronze and Red categories listed below.
Red membership entitles you to enrol in any one or more of the activities in the Red category listed below.
POM (Paid Outing Membership) is for people who only want to go on excursions.

Membership fees include a £4 fee paid to the Third Age Trust to cover the cost of our public liability insurance.
Members who lead a Group shall pay a membership fee according to the activities they undertake but ignoring the Group they lead.
A few groups charge an additional fee, which should be clear from the group page, to cover additional costs such as textbooks or a qualified person without whom the group could not run.

Membership fees are payable in the following ways:
- Online by credit/debit card if you are joining / renewing online. [PREFERRED]

Please add your name (and membership number if renewing) as the reference on the transfer. - Cheque: made payable to “U3A Alton”

Your membership card will be sent to you by post and must be presented to the Group Leader upon your first attendance at an activity.
u3a Matters
Our u3a matters magazine is published five times a year and is posted to members' homes. It is packed with stories about members and u3a activities, plus celebrity interviews and features on technology, recipes, travel, competitions, and a lively and popular letters section.
To receive your copy, please select the 'and Mag' membership class when completing your online application. If you are using a paper form, please tick the 'u3a matters' section, and add £4.20 (full year) or £2.50 (part year: up to 3 copies) to your membership fee.
